Who is Mr. Duck?

Patricio Xavier Martinez, in his own words

I'm 24, from San Pedro Garza García, Monterrey. I'm passionate about finance and technology, but what really drives me is people: connecting with them and hearing their stories.

I've loved finance since I was little. YuppieBanker, my first venture, is how I express that love, and it's the reason I taught myself to code, with Claude and Claude Code as my engineering partners. Every project since grew from that first build, so the company that holds them carries its name: YuppieBanker Technologies.

I love to read, to dig into articles and to listen to podcasts. I like challenging myself and getting better every day, physically, mentally and emotionally. When I commit to something, I give it everything I have. I'll admit I'm a bit of a workaholic, but I keep my balance.

I love going out, meeting people and sharing what I've learned so they can use it in their own lives. My dream is to help people fulfill theirs, and to show that anything is possible with hard work. Any day you can learn a new skill. If I did it, you can too.

What I love outside the code.

  • PeopleWhat really drives me: connecting with people and hearing their stories.
  • SportsThe NFL above all, then soccer and basketball.
  • Fantasy footballFantasy football in high school is how I fell for the numbers. It led to my own NFL model. The NFL model
  • Beer from around the worldIt became a small project of its own: every beer I taste, scored and pinned on a world map.Mr. Duck's Beer World
  • CoffeeCoffee and espresso, one of the small things I love.
  • Books and podcastsI love to read, to dig into articles and to listen to podcasts.
  • FitnessChallenging myself to get better every day, physically, mentally and emotionally.

How I build.

  1. I start with a real person and a real problem, usually someone I know.
  2. I sit down with them and ask what they need to see to make better decisions.
  3. I build it from scratch around them, with Claude as my engineering partner.
  4. I put it in their hands early and test it on real devices with real data.
  5. I compare it against the best products in the market and keep improving it.

The tools I build with.

  • ClaudeThe AI inside YuppieBanker, Ikkyu, BeYou, Dr. Carlos and this site.
  • Claude CodeMy engineering partner on every codebase here.
  • SupabaseDatabase, sign-in and edge functions for almost every venture.
  • Next.js and ReactWeb apps, from this site to YuppieBanker and BeYou.
  • Expo and React NativeIkkyu's iPad and iPhone apps for the restaurant floor.
  • StripePayments for YuppieBanker and reservation deposits at Sushi Iwa.
  • Python and DuckDBThe NFL model's simulations and its odds warehouse.
  • VercelWhere most of the web apps are deployed.

What I'm proud of

What I've built, and for whom.

  • For one personA friend's family restaurant runs on a system built around how they actually work.
  • For a communityA finance education platform, built solo, for students who want the careers I want.
  • For the regionShowing people in Latin America that anyone can learn a new skill and build something real.

Where I'd value advice

Where a mentor would help.

If you've been through any of these, I'd be grateful to learn from you.

  • Raising a first round and choosing the right investors
  • Hiring a first team and learning to lead it
  • Turning products people like into businesses that last
  • Growing as a financier: deals, judgment and markets
